Please summarize escrow transfer process offered by MyID.ca. |
| Here is how it works: Current and future owner of the .ca
domain name registration agree on transfer price.
Future .ca domain name owner contacts us with agreed upon price and
starts escrow.
Email notification is sent to both parties letting them know that
escrow for this .ca domain name has started for this domain.
Future owner of this .ca domain name transfers funds covering agreed
upon price and our fee to our bank account via either direct
deposit or email. No cheques, money orders, or credit cards
accepted.
We notify current owner of the .ca domain name that we received
the funds in full.
Current owner of this .ca domain name approves transfer with CIRA.
CIRA emails us advising us of such and asks up to approve the
transfer as a registrar.
We approve the transfer and inform future owner for this .ca
domain name that current owner completed the transfer of the
.ca domain name and that transaction is now complete.
We release funds to original owner of that .ca domain name.
New owner for this .ca domain name approves transfer with CIRA
and the .ca domain name is now his.
Please consult our
escrow page for detailed
description.
|
| How
long does a domain transfer between registrants take? |
It all depends on
when money gets deposited in our account and how soon each of the
.ca domain name
registrants confirms the transfer with CIRA. If all is done
expeditiously, transfer can be terminated in minutes after deposit
was made to our account. The process is completely automated.
|
| How
much does it cost to transfer a .ca domain name between registrants
with and without escrow service? |
If the .ca
domain name transfer
does not include escrow, you can consult the
pricing page for a
listing of all current prices.
For .ca domain name
transfers including escrow, cost is same as above in addition to a
handling fee of the larger of $25 CDN or 2% of transaction price.
This fee is non-refundable in case any of the parties decides not to
proceed with the transfer of this
.ca domain name.
|
| Do
both .ca domain name
registrants involved in a transfer need to be registered with
Myid.ca? |
Yes they do. Our
system will only support transfer between 2 .ca domain name
registrants registered with myid.ca. In case you want to transfer
one of your domains that is currently with another registrar to
another registrant, you need first to transfer your .ca
domain name to myid.ca
and then do the registrant to registrant transfer. These will be 2
separate transactions and the .ca domain name will be extended by 2
years.

|
What are the benefits of using your escrow service for our transfer? |
The escrow service
gives peace of mind for both registrants as each of them has to deal
with us, a Canadian corporation and a CIRA certified registrar, and
accordingly an entity they can trust.
Usually the transfer is occurring between parties who are unknown to
each other. Accordingly, there is no guarantee that if money is sent
first, the .ca domain name
will be transferred. Similarly, there is no guarantee that if the
.ca domain name
is transferred first, money will be sent. Our escrow service solves
this problem.
We do not start transfer procedure for this .ca domain name
until money has reached our account and do not release it until we
verify that the .ca domain name
transfer has been complete.
