.ca Domains > Transfers > Another registrant
- Please describe how to change the ownership of a .ca domain
The following takes place:
1) The new owner starts a 'registrant transfer' here
The info that must be entered here is the domain name and the future owner registrant number.
2) The current owner approves the transfer with CIRA by logging in to CIRA website using their 'CIRA account number' and 'password'.
3) The registrar of record approves the transfer with CIRA.
4) The future owner approves the transfer with CIRA by logging in to CIRA website using their 'CIRA account number' and 'password'.
The transfer is then complete and whois records reflect the new ownership.
Please note that domain transfers can only take place at the registrar of record and so in case one wants to use MyID.ca to change ownership of a .ca domain that is not registered with MyID.ca, the domain must first be transferred to MyID.ca through a 'registrar transfer', which can be started here
Once that is complete, a registrant transfer can then proceed.
