Dot Ca Auction > Info for Bidders
  1. How can I participate in MyID.ca Dot Ca Auction?
Our Dot CA Auctions are open to anyone above 18 years of age that has a MyID.ca account in good standing, satisfies canadian presence requirements for .ca registration eligibility, has completed the MyID.ca bidder authentication process, and has agreed to our auction's rules and procedures.

  2. What is the bidder authentication process?
To be allowed in an auction, a bidder must:

    1) Make sure that the MyID.ca contact info is correct and valid. This includes your phone number, address, and both email addresses.

    2) Submit by fax or email a government issued photo ID.

    3) Submit by fax or email both sides of a valid credit card. The credit card will be authorized (but not charged) for $5 and will help us confirm the bidder's identity and age.

    4) Agree to our auction rules and procedures

Our fax number is (866) 224-4095.

  3. How do I submit payment to domains I won?
We offer the following payment options:

    Interac Email Transfer
Webbanking (in case you have a TD Canada Trust bank account)
Hyperwallet.com (Free to join and highly recommended)
    Wire
Walkin to any TD Canada Trust branch.

We do not accept payments by credit cards, cheques, cash, money orders, or paypal.

  4. What happens after I win an auction?
Shortly following the end of the auction, you will get an invoice from us which includes payment instructions.

Once payment is received, we'll start the domain transfer. After seller approves the transfer with CIRA, you have to approve it as well. Once you do, the domain is yours and the whois reflects you as the new registrant.

Each step above can be tracked through your MyID.ca account. The status of each domain sold would reflect one of the following:

    Buyer Invoiced, Awaiting payment
    Payment Received
Registrar transfer started and awaiting seller approval (in case domain sold is not with MyID.ca)
    Registrar transfer complete
Registrant transfer started and awaiting seller approval
    Registrant transfer awaiting buyer approval
    Registrant transfer complete
Statement of earnings sent to seller
    Funds sent. Transaction complete

  5. I won a domain auction and received a notice from CIRA to approve the transfer. How do I do that?
You need to login into CIRA's website with your CIRA username and password and approve the transfer.

  6. How do I know I am not bidding on a stolen domain?
MyID.ca takes security very seriously and has implemented many fraud prevention measures included:

    1) Every domain submitted is checked thoroughly with respect to ownership history. Owners (past and present) may be contacted if needed.

    2) Every person that submits domains to our auctions has submitted a government issued photo ID and a credit card in their name. Their contact info is also on file. And this info is verified. So, basically, we have enough info to know who we are dealing with and in case we suspect fraud or foul play, we will contact the law enforcement authorities and provide them with all the info we have.

It would accordingly be extremely foolish for anyone to attempt fraud on any of our auctions.

  7. What if I win an auction and the domain owner refuses to transfer the domain?
We'll ban the domain owner from both our future auctions and the MyID.ca website and disclose relevant details on our auction blog so that all others will be aware of the breach that took place.
